Installing and Moving Your oven
This page provides step-by-step guidance for installing or relocating your oven. Simply click the tabs below to find the information you need.
Installing & Handling Guidelines
After uncrating and accepting delivery of your Forno Classico oven, the next step is preparing your installation space. Due to the substantial weight of these ovens—typically ranging from 1,000 to 3,000 pounds—it is essential to plan ahead and ensure all handling and placement requirements are properly arranged before delivery.
To safely move the oven, you must use a crane, forklift, or equivalent lifting equipment rated for a minimum load of 4,000 pounds. Attempting to move the oven without proper equipment can result in serious damage to the unit and pose significant safety risks. Proper preparation prior to delivery will help ensure a smooth and secure installation process.
1. If the oven is purchased with the steel stand:
- The gas burner is already installed and integrated into the steel stand.
- The installer only needs to connect the gas line.
- The burner remains fully accessible for future maintenance.
2. If the oven is purchased without the stand:
- The burner is installed underneath the oven, not inside the dome.
- We provide a cutting template so the installer can cut the countertop or cement base correctly.
- This design allows a technician to remove the burner easily for service or maintenance.
Why the burner is not built into the oven dome:
- We intentionally keep the burner separate from the oven body.
- This ensures easy access for maintenance, no need to dismantle the oven, and preserves the traditional Forno Classico dome.
- The burner is a stand-alone unit installed below the oven for maximum practicality
Additional Information for the Country Club Installation:
- We provide a flexible gas connection for the burner.
- You can position the control board on the left or right side.
- Recommended placement allows easy access to turn the oven on/off, light the pilot, adjust the flame, and control the temperature.
- Once the pilot is turned on, the burner follows its ignition sequence.
- You can adjust the flame to reach the desired cooking temperature.
- This setup provides a more practical and precise cooking experience with smooth temperature control
Professional Installation Required
Forno Classico ovens are designed to be installed by qualified general contractors or licensed professionals. Improper installation can lead to structural damage, compromised performance, or hazardous conditions.
Special attention must be given to fuel connections. Incorrect installation of gas or other fuel sources is extremely dangerous and may result in fire, serious injury, or loss of life. Always ensure that all applicable local building codes, safety standards, and professional installation practices are strictly followed.
Lifting & Positioning the Oven
Your oven will arrive secured on a custom-built plywood pallet. A forklift, crane, or similar lifting equipment is required to transfer the oven onto its final base or countertop.
For safe lifting:
- Insert forks or lifting straps through the pallet and beneath the oven
- Use a spreader bar to evenly distribute the load and maintain stability
- Position straps at the corners of the oven to minimize stress on exterior finishes such as stucco or mosaic tile
- Orient the lift bar from the back to the front, ensuring it extends beyond both ends of the oven for balanced lifting
During handling, protect the oven’s exterior by covering it with furniture pads or heavy-duty fabric to prevent scratches, cracks, or surface damage.
⚠️ Important Safety Notice:
At no point should anyone place any part of their body underneath the oven during lifting or installation.
Block of Ice Placement Method
When installing your oven onto a flat countertop or base, a controlled placement method using ice blocks can assist with precise positioning.
Procedure:
- Place four equal-sized blocks of ice on the installation surface—two at the front (left and right) and two at the rear (left and right). This allows clearance for straps or forks during placement.
- Measure and confirm all clearances to ensure accurate alignment and proper spacing.
- Position the oven relative to the front edge of the counter, allowing for any additional exterior finishes or cladding.
- Carefully lower the oven onto the ice blocks.
- Slightly relieve tension on the lifting straps by lowering the spreader bar, then safely detach and remove them—never reach underneath the oven.
- Make final alignment adjustments while the oven rests on the ice.
- Allow the ice to melt gradually, enabling the oven to settle evenly and securely into its final position.
Final Notes & Disclaimer

Once you have uncrated and accepted delivery of your Forno Classico oven, the next step is preparing your installation space and coordinating a safe move into position.
These ovens are extremely heavy—ranging from 1,000 to 3,000 pounds—so proper lifting equipment is essential. A crane, hydraulic lift, forklift, or similar machinery must be arranged before delivery to ensure the oven can be safely transported to its final location without risk of damage or delay.
Safe Lifting Procedure
Your oven will arrive secured on a custom-built plywood pallet designed specifically for transport. To transfer it onto a countertop or stand, an engine hoist, forklift, crane, or equivalent equipment is required.
For proper lifting and handling:
- Insert lifting straps or forks through the pallet and beneath the oven
- Use a spreader bar to evenly distribute weight and maintain stability during lifting
- Adjust the straps to achieve a secure and balanced hold along the oven’s edges
- Position straps at the corners to minimize pressure on exterior finishes such as stucco or mosaic tile
- Orient the lifting bar from back to front, ensuring it extends beyond both the rear and front of the oven for proper balance
To protect the oven during movement, cover it with a furniture moving blanket or heavy-duty fabric. This helps prevent scratches, cracks, or other surface damage to the exterior finish.
